Ending Domestic Abuse

As you may know, Hetti Barkworth Nanton was unable to make the WFWI AGM on the 8th October. She has been busy working with Queen Camilla to break the cycle of domestic abuse. Their documentary 'Her Majesty The Queen: Behind Closed Doors' aired last night on ITV, you can watch it here

WFWI has worked with Swindon Domestic Abuse Support Service to determine what would be an effective way to rally our resources behind this and it was announced at the AGM that

Marchioness of Lansdowne and Nicky Alberry from Swindon Domestic Abuse Support Service at the AGM

we will fund training for our members to:

  • Keep domestic abuse on peoples’ radars

  • Be a point of contact for someone to have a confidential conversation, to be an empathetic listener whilst also understanding how to safeguard themselves and potential victims

  • Signpost people to places where they can get professional help

  • Keep up to date with various support organisations and what they can offer

If you are interested in becoming a domestic abuse ambassador with your WI please complete the form to register your interest https://forms.office.com/e/DFEEvu2qVq

The training takes about half a day and will be either face to face or online (depending on numbers and location of people interested).
